African Ecolabelling Mechanism
The African Ecolabelling Mechanism programme is key activity identified under the African 10 Year Framework Programme by UNEP in collaboration with African Union, UNECA, ARSCP and in consultation with the Marrakech Taskforce on Cooperation with Africa, and as a programme that will expand the market access of African products in regional and international markets by improving the environmental profiles of African products and establishing a mechanism that promotes their marketability. It is being implemented by ARSO in cooperation with the German Government through GTZ- German Technical Cooperation.
African Register of Certified Auditors
ARCA is aimed at creating a Register of qualified Management Systems Auditors in Africa and through partnership with the African NSBs offer standardized examinations to further the competence of personnel dealing in standards, quality and conformity assessment in Africa. The programme is also intended to promote National Certification Bodies to develop or enhance certification of personnel in accordance with ISO 17024:2003 – Conformity assessment.
ARSO Sabbatical Programme
This involves the assignment of standardization and quality experts from Africa to the ARSO Headquarters in Nairobi to work briefly to gain experience and contribute their expertise to standardization activities in Africa. The programme is contributing to the promotion of the Culture of Quality in Africa through enhancing exchange of technical competence and networking among the African National Bureau of Standards as well as ensuring a pool of African Experts for African standards harmonisation with regard to the WTO/TBT/SPS requirements.
