This involves the assignment of standardization and quality experts from Africa to the ARSO Headquarters in Nairobi to work briefly to gain experience and contribute their expertise to standardization activities in Africa. The programme is contributing to the promotion of the Culture of Quality in Africa through enhancing exchange of technical competence and networking among the African National Bureau of Standards as well as ensuring a pool of African Experts for African standards harmonisation with regard to the WTO/TBT/SPS requirements.

2. 2011 – Mr. Tesfaye Jacob Melkamu – EOS, Ethiopia
The 47th ARSO Council under Resolution 8 on ARSO Sabbatical Programme had EMPHASISED on the importance of the ARSO Sabbatical Programme in the implementation of the ARSO Programmes and capacity building for NSBs and Directed the Central Secretariat to further call upon the Member States to nominate qualified Experts from among their NSBs for the Sabbatical Programme at the ARSO Central Secretariat for the duration of a minimum period of six months and up to one year maximum.
ARSO Central Secretariat wishes to request qualified candidates for the programme to fill in the application form and submit it through their NSBs for consideration.
