The ARSO-Malawi 2008 was to be hosted by the Government of the Republic of Malawi through the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) as per the dates indicated below.
The ARSO Council after due consultations (16/10/2008), during the recently concluded 12-16 October ISO Dubai 2008, observed and noted that the participation of almost all ARSO member States in the October ISO Dubai 2008 would result in low participation of ARSO members/Owners and our key partners in the forthcoming 10-15 November ARSO-Malawi 2008 especially as the latter commences less than one month after ISO Dubai 2008. This year 2008, the 31st ISO General Assebly was held in October instead of in the usual month of September as in the previous ISO General Assemblies.
Aware of the essence of ARSO-Malawi 2008 and the need to optimise benefits through full participation of ARSO membership, partners, the ARSO Council agreed to postpone the 10-15 November ARSO-Malawi 2008 to later dates.
ARSO formally conveys this agreement on the postponement of 10-15 November ARSO-Malawi 2008 by the ARSO Council to your good self and offices. ARSO deeply regrets the inconveniences caused by this postponement. The new dates for the ARSO-Malawi events will be communicated to your good self and offices at a later date. Thank you for your usual collaboration, cooperation and team spirit.
Earlier Dates for the events
The ARSO-Malawi 2008 events will be held in Blantyre, Malawi from 10 to 15 November 2008, and the events are scheduled as follows:
1. 10 – 11 November 2008: 38th ARSO Council (Members only)
2. 11 November 2008: Forum on ARSO And Standardisation-led Common Good : The
Way Forward
3. 12 November 2008: 5th Edition of African Standardization Forum (ASF- 5: 2008)

4. 13 – 14 November 2008: 17th ARSO General Assembly
5. 15 Nov. 2008: Social Visit (Visit to a national park).
